I don't like to list only my favorite artist. I believe that one artist is too vague, to get a good grasp on a person. So here are my favorite genres of music, and favorite bands.
My favorite music genres are: (Not in any order)
-Trance
-EBM
-Hard dance
-Doom metal
-Melodic Death Metal
-Thrash metal
-Indie
-Grunge
-J-Rock
-other random stuff
Here are my top 5 favorite artists:
=-> Christian Death (Rozz Williams era) (Gothic Rock)
Christian Death -- Spiritual Cramp
Similar to their name, this band makes a lot of statements with their music. Christian Death was an amazing Gothic Rock group whose singer/front man at the time was an amazing lyricist. Rozz Williams, the lead singer, went on to play in many bands of the Gothic Rock genre. Similar to the other artists in their genre they use 70's Punk music and 70's Gothic rock as a basis.
=-> The Cure (lol What genre?)
The Cure -- A Forest
Robert Smith is by far one of the most influential music writers of the decade. Branching between various different genre's, The Cure has still managed to keep their unique style in tact. Depressing, grief filled songs sung in a usually uplifting and happy mood. How is this possible? The answer: The Cure. Easy.
=-> The Cruxshadows (EBM/Ambient)
The Cruxshadows -- Winterborn
A good mix between Gothic/Ambient and electronic body music. Rogue, the lead singer, is a musical genius. His earlier albums with the band were amazing.
=-> My Dying Bride (Doom Metal)
My Dying Bride -- Deeper Down
One of the first Doom metal bands, and IMO one of the best.
=-> Arch Enemy (Melodic Death Metal)
Arch Enemy -- We Will Rise
One of the best out of a small hand full of Melodic Death Metal bands. Angela Gossow, the singer of Arch Enemy, has the power and aggression unlike any of her male counterparts. Combine that lyrical power with two amazing guitarists: Michael Amott and Christopher Amott. Now you just have a force of pure destruction!
